Iowa Ag-Manufacturer Expands in Seward County
27 Oct 2016
The two largest industries in Nebraska are agriculture and manufacturing. Montag Manufacturing, which combines these two industries, has recently decided to expand their growing business into Seward County, Nebraska.
Montag Manufacturing, Inc. was founded 2005 by the Montag family in Emmetsburg, Iowa. They manufacture fertilizer application equipment for the agricultural industry. Their customers are worldwide, but their dealership network is primarily in the United States. Montag has specifically chosen to expand in Seward County because of the central location in the U.S., favorable business climate, easy access to transportation corridors, and an increased access to a talented workforce.
“We have been impressed by how welcoming and business-friendly Nebraska has been,” said Anthony Montag, Vice President of Montag Manufacturing. “Seward County is an ideal location for our recent business expansion.”
The Montag family started to look for a place to expand their business in Nebraska in March 2013. They built a family home on the Seward and Lancaster County border, where they have operated the sales and marketing side of their business for the past few years. In July 2016, they moved into a 10,000 square foot facility located northwest of Milford a half-mile east of Nebraska Highway 15, in close proximity to Interstate 80. They now operate their parts distribution warehouse in this building with plans to add more departments in the future.
Jonathan Jank, President & CEO for the Seward County Chamber & Development Partnership (SCCDP) met the Montag family in 2013 when he was the Executive Director for the Seward County Economic Development Corporation. He helped build a relationship with the family and listened to their business needs. The type of facility their company was looking for wasn’t available immediately. He kept in touch over the years and identified the current building they operate in.
“Economic development is a marathon, not a sprint,” said Jank. “It’s really about building relationships and listening to the needs of a company. It took time, but we were able to find a building that fit Montag Manufacturing’s growing business.”
Montag Manufacturing is scheduled to have an open house and ribbon cutting with the SCCDP Ambassadors on Wednesday, October 26 at their new facility. For more information about their company, please visit: http://www.montagmfg.com/.
