The state’s new tourism director knows Nebraska is nice.
“I am a professional traveler. I love wherever I go,” John Ricks said. “I get juiced by everything in a place.”
That includes the Oregon Trail wagon ruts carved into the rocky slopes of Scotts Bluff National Monument in western Nebraska — a memory that stuck with Ricks from the time he worked with Scotts Bluff County on a market branding project about a decade ago.
