Fertilizer Plant in Fillmore County
15 May 2017
A $75 million fertilizer plant used to produce anhydrous ammonia which is used to inject into the ground is high in nitrogen content for farmers to utilize to maximize yields and increase productivity. The Geneva City Council looked at a proposal by Fortigen to construct and operate the plant on a 15-20 acre on the eastern edge of the Fillmore County of about 2,200.
The plant, once operating at full capacity, would employ about 25-30 people and create about 150 temporary jobs during the construction phase. This plant is considered “kind of a game changer” for the area and will be right across the street from the town’s existing industrial park.
