Editorial: Lincoln's reputation as a tech hub grows with addition of Ink Labs

The announcement that Ink Labs, a startup company in Silicon Valley, is moving its headquarters to Lincoln shows how important pieces have come together for Nebraska economic development. This successful recruitment effort sets an example that holds promise for the future.

Consider the elements that enabled this project to come to fruition:

» Coordinated effort. Private investors, state and local government officials and the University of Nebraska worked effectively in a coordinated fashion to seal the deal.

» Lincoln as a tech hub. Lincoln has a demonstrated ability to nurture startups. Hudl, the sports video analysis company whose founders all have roots with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has proved a dramatic success. Nebraska’s capital city has earned a national recognition for its set of robust sports-tech startups that have brought in talent from larger cities including Chicago, Seattle and Toronto.
