UTC Aerospace Systems partners with YHS seniors

YORK – Brady Rafferty and Ian Vavra won’t graduate until this Sunday, however the York High seniors are already well down the road to an excellent career opportunity.

Both are interns getting their feet wet and testing their skills at UTC Aerospace Systems (formerly Hamilton Sunstrand) in York.

Their machinist internships are made possible by a partnership between the company and York High School that is but one of several career development initiatives undertaken by York Public Schools.

One mission of the district, said YHS principal Dr. Mitch Bartholomew, “Is to provide our students valuable community experience. York High School can help our students by showing they could have an excellent career at UTC Aerospace Systems.”

Rafferty and Vavra were selected, Bartholomew said, as he “looked for (seniors) who may not know what next year looks like.
