One-man lawn care franchise brings clean, renewable energy to Lincoln yards

As summer returns, so does the familiar cadence of mowers loudly traversing lawns and weed whackers taming unruly blades of grass.

But for Southeast Community College student Jeremy Payne, things are a little quieter.

Payne, 23, started his one-man lawn care franchise in April, with all of his lawn care equipment powered by solar energy and biodiesel. They make less noise and presumably cut back on air pollution. 

The fertilizers he uses are organic -- comprised of a mix of alfalfa, kelp and other organic material.

Prioritizing the environment went hand-in-hand with running a business for Payne, who grew up an avid hunter and fisher. 

"My parents always taught me to the respect the outdoors," he said.

So when he found out about Clean Air Lawn Care through a friend, Payne, eager to make some money, jumped at the opportunity to establish a franchise in Lincoln.
