Financials provided regarding year at ballfield complex

Each year, Cheree Folts, director of York Parks and Recreation, makes an annual report to the council regarding activities, financials for the different departments and usage by the public.

And this year’s report shows growth in public participation and in activity offerings.

Regarding the new ballfield complex, there were 14 tournaments played this past season, involving 388 teams over a total of 25 days. All associated fees with those tournaments totaled at $30,075.

Folts said three tournaments had to be cancelled due to weather. The loss due to the cancellations was $7,990.

For local associations – local ball teams – the fields were used 585 times over the course of the ball season.

Folts said the amount brought in due to concessions sales totaled $46,723. Of that money, $31,940 was retained by the city and $14,782 was paid out to organizations that ran the concession stands.

“The concessions sales benefitted 22 different organizations,” Folts said, “and it still made money.”

The total income for the ball field complex, for the season, was $62,015.85. That’s an unofficial number, she told the council.
