Lincoln Named Top City for Economic Development by Site Selection Magazine

Site Selection Magazine, one of the nation’s leading authorities and publications regarding economic development, ranked Lincoln ninth for the number of projects in metro areas with a population between 200,000 and 1,000,000.  Lincoln produced and developed 27 qualifying projects, coming in behind places like Toledo, Ohio; Charleston, South Carolina; Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Greensboro-High Point, North Carolina. In the West North Central region, Lincoln ranked fifth for projects in a metro area regardless of population, finishing behind places like Kansas City, MO; St. Louis, MO and Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN.

The state of Nebraska was awarded the Governor’s Cup by Site Selection Magazine.  Overall, the magazine rated Nebraska as the number one state in the nation in 2017 for the number of projects per capita. Nebraska’s tally of 110 projects was nine higher than the previous year.

According to the magazine, the Governor’s Cup reflects yearly project totals as tracked by the Conway Projects Database. Qualifying projects must meet one or more of these criteria for inclusion in the database: a minimum capital investment of $1 million, 20 or more new jobs created, and 20,000 or more square feet of new space.
